On December 2nd, the city council of Stone Harbor passed a resolution to award a contract to build a tidal water pipeline. According to the Cape May County Herald, the pipeline is designed to restore wetlands and marshes at the Stone Harbor Bird Sanctuary.
The hope is the pipeline can aid nature in restoring the wetlands of the SHBS. Increasing wetlands is vital to a healthy population of herons, egrets, and the many species that inhabit the sanctuary. A great by-product of having the bird sanctuary located nearby is that it provides homes in Stone Harbor with an abundance of wildlife.
